So… I couldn’t decide on just 10 books for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday (Top Ten Books I Would Hand to Someone Who Claims Not to Like Reading), so I decided to go with 10 vague categories instead, so that then one could choose the book from the category that they think that person would be most likely to go for.
1. Something fluffy
The Selection
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow
2. Something to correspond to the season
The Summer of Broken Rules (Summer)
Pumpkinheads (Halloween/Autumn)
10 Blind Dates (Christmas-y)
3. Something that doesn’t feel like a traditional book
Illuminae
4. A graphic novel
On a Sunbeam
Spinning
The Prince and the Dressmaker
5. Percy Jackson and the Olympians (or anything else by Rick Riordan)
It needs no category
6. Six of Crows
It also needs no category
7. A contemplative contemporary book
An Emotion of Great Delight
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
8. Something with vaguely fairytale vibes
Cinder
Spin the Dawn
Caraval
9. Something with a mystery
Truly Devious
An Absolutely Remarkable Thing
Something about characters who believe they don’t like reading discovery they love reading (see, it’s meta)
The Reading List
I absolutely adore this book, and absolutely everybody should go read it, whether they love books or no (but especially if they love books).
I really need to read Pumpkin Heads sometime.

You definitely should! It’s a super quick read, and it’s absolutely perfect for this time of year.
I have heard such good things about Caraval—-I need to get to that one.

It’s so magical and fun; I’d definitely recommend that trilogy!!! The author just released a companion book a few weeks that I’m very excited to read whenever I get my copy.
I think I have loved everything Rick Riordan has written! So much so, I’m wearing a CHB hoodie as I read this post!

I know; Rick Riordan has never written a book that I didn’t adore. Also, go you for that fan dedication with the hoodie!
Graphic novels are an especially good choice for this topic. My 12-year-old doesn’t like to read most books, but she does love graphic novels and manga.
Happy TTT!

I only started liking graphic novels a couple of years ago when I was starting to get into illustration, but my younger brother is the exact same way as your daughter where he doesn’t like reading most things but loves graphic novels.
Illuminae was so fun. I liked the first Maureen johnson book too although I haven’t read the sequels.
I know; Illuminae is great! I would definitely recommend reading the Truly Devious sequels; it’s one of my favorite series.
The Prince and the Dressmaker was so adorable. I forgot to put that one on my list this week!
I know; it was so cute!
I had Percy Jackson on my list this week too!
