Choosing my reading goals for a given year is always difficult because I tend to greatly overestimate my capabilities with full knowledge that I am doing so. It’s just me being delusional, but at least it’s me being delusional with a purpose.
This year, my goals are almost all centered around simplifying my reading life and being more consistent with my online book presence. I feel a little more confident than I usually do with my yearly reading goals, since the goals will all hopefully work in tandem, rather than being a dozen separate goals.
Without further ado, let’s go ahead and get into the goals!
Read at least 125 books
My Goodreads goal is always the first thing I decide on for my yearly reading aims. I had it at 125 last year and, while I overshot that by reading 175 books, I decided to go with 125 again because it feels more achievable. If I read more than that, that’s great, and I likely will, but I don’t want to overextend myself with this aspect of my goals.
Have a physical TBR of fewer than 75 books
I have a truly concerning number of books on my physical TBR, so this year I want to greatly limit both the number of books I buy and the number I read from the library until I can get it under control. I’m setting a goal of having 75 books on my physical TBR by the end of 2024, with a possible stretch goal of fewer than 50 books.
Be currently reading fewer than 50 series
I have a large problem with starting series and not finishing them in any timely manner, so I knew a big goal of mine this year would be to reduce that. I’m currently reading 62 series, so my aim is to reduce that by a net amount of at least 12 series, either by finishing them or officially DNF-ing them. The bad news for that is that a lot of the books on my physical TBR are the first books in series, so… I might have some issues with this due to my TBR-reduction goal.
Read my 24 books for 2024

Review every book I read on Goodreads
This is a big goal that I’ve had for a long time and am actually hoping to do this year. I already review every book I read in my monthly wrap-ups on my YouTube channel, but I hope that reviewing them all on Goodreads will give me an easier way to refer back to what I thought of a book when I’m working on book rec videos and related projects.
Post at least 52 BookTube videos
This seems like a large number looking at it, but, since I aim to post at least once a week, it should be achievable. I do have to miss weeks due to my school schedule sometimes—I’m a full-time college student at a school on the quarter system, so mid-terms and finals come around quite often—but, since I try and post more frequently on school breaks, it should balance out.
Find a good rhythm on my blog and Bookstagram
This is possibly the biggest reach on here. I love posting videos on YouTube talking about books, but I want to make sure to also maintain streams of content on here and on my Bookstagram, especially since content on the latter doesn’t have as much longevity as content on a blog. I’ll probably be experimenting to different approaches to both blogging and Instagram over the course of the year to try and find a structure that works for me, but I really am hoping to be at least somewhat active on both platforms.
