Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is Top Ten New-To Me Authors I Discovered in 2021! If you’re curious, here is my list from last year of my favorite new-to-me authors from 2020.

Emma Lord

I read both Tweet Cute and You Have A Match last year, with the latter having been both one of my most-anticipated reads of the year and one of my 20 favorite reads of the year. I also read her new book, When You Get the Chance, this year and absolutely adored it; Emma Lord is definitely an auto-buy author for me at this point, and one of my favorite YA contemporary authors.

Julie Berry

I loved Lovely War, even though I don’t usually love historical fiction, particularly historical fiction centered are WWI and WWII; all of the mythology really made it for me. None of her other books currently out really appeal to me, but I’ll be excited to see what she does in the future!

Laura Taylor Namey

I absolutely adored A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow; I’m definitely going to try to get to The Library of Lost Things and When We Were Them at some point soon!

Kristin Cashore

I started reading Cashore’s Graceling Realm series this year and have really been enjoying it (I”ve read the first two so far). It’s just really good fantasy, and I’m looking forward to reading Bitterblue and Winterkeep this year!

Elizabeth Lim

Spin the Dawn was so good, so I’m really excited to finally read Unravel the Dusk and Six Crimson Cranes; I’ve been putting them off because I want to be able to fully appreciate them, but I’m definitely going to try to fit them in soon.

Sarah J. Maas

I started reading Maas’ Throne of Glass series this year, and am currently on Empire of Storms; I’ve been loving it, so I want to finish those books in the next few months. I’ll probably try and read the A Court of Thorns and Roses series once I finish it as well.

G.D. Falksen

Falksen wrote The Secret Life of Kitty Granger, which is a historical fiction book about an autistic girl spy, and it was so good; it had a little bit of Agent Carter vibes, if you’ve seen that TV show.

Sara Nisha Adams

The Reading List was one of my absolute favorite books of 2021; if you haven’t read it, go do that now. You’ll love it. She has a book called The Shared Garden that’s coming out this year that I’m really looking forward to as well. With just one book, Adams has definitely become an auto-buy author for me, so I really encourage you to check out her debut if you haven’t heard of it.

Danielle L. Jensen

The Bridge Kingdom was an unexpected favorite this year; I loved everything about it and The Traitor Queen. I’m definitely looking forward to reading The Inadequate Heir later this year, which follows different characters in the same world. We’ll see if I love it as much as the original arc, but I have high hopes.

Fredrik Backman

I wasn’t expecting to love Anxious People so much, but I truly adored it. It was amazing, and definitely made me excited to check out Backman’s other work!
